The Toyota MR2, or Midship Run-about Two-seater, is the brand’s first sports car to feature a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. The series aimed to provide a sports car that was fuel-efficient yet fun to drive experience, which by doing so made the MR2 Japan's Car of the Year in 1984. Premium models such as this AW11 also came equipped with the iconic 4A-GE engine shared by the famous AE86.
